Eleftheria Deko, is a Lighting Designer and Assistant Professor at the Theatre Department of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has designed the lighting for numerous events, for which she has received many awards including the Woman Artist of the Year 2009 in Greece. She has also taught lighting designing in several institutions including New York University and the Hellenic Open University. In 2000 she has created the Eleftheria Deko & Associates, Architectural Lighting Consultants’ firm to combine her expertise in the entertainment field with that of the architecture world. A significant moment in her career has been her participation in the Olympic Games Athens 2004 as the Lighting Designer and Director for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. For the Opening she has been awarded an EMMY award in 2004-2005 in the category of Outstanding Lighting Direction.
