Nicholas Samaras leaders stamp

Special diving and photographic equipment. Endless hours underwater. Minimum digital image correction and enhancement. These are the basic elements of the work of Nicholas Samaras, an underwater photographer who has received more than 50 awards and distinctions in international festivals of underwater and wildlife photography – the most recent his winning second place in the Portfolio Mediterraneo category of the “See in the Sea UW International Photocontest OrtonAmare 2014”. His photographs have also been published in prestigious publications, such as the National Geographic magazine, which featured a portfolio on the rare black coral Samaras spotted at the sea off Trikeri, in South Pelion.
Apart from diving in Greece or abroad to capture the beauty of the marine world, Samaras aims in showcasing that water can become a canvas for highly aesthetic artistic creations. His portfolio includes portraits of swimmers (from professional athletes, to babies learning how to float in a pool), as well as a varied range of themes, including fashion editorials.
When it comes to Greek diving spots, Samaras knows by experience that any destination has to offer something of interest, especially the Pagasetic Gulf, the Gulf of Corinth, the region of Halkidiki and the island of Crete. His photographs have been presented in group and solo exhibition, while prints are available for sale online at
