Greek tourism seems to be heading towards another record on the basis of air arrivals data at the main airports, in the first quarter of 2016.

The data collected by the Greek Tourism Business Association, record an increase of 7.6% compared with the same period last year. The period January-April this year stood at 1.64 million tourists, from 1.52 million tourists last year.

In particular a significant increase of arrivals has been noted at the airport Eleftherios Venizelos, which stood at 6.1%, with the total number of visitors exceeding the number of 921.000. The increase at the Airport of Thessaloniki is also remarkable, attracting 353.400 arrivals, thus surging 1.4%.

The rates of airports of Crete have also moved upward as the island is one of the major touristic destinations of the country, due to the volume of tourists it attracts.
