APIVITA is preparing to celebrate the Day of the Bee this year. The World Beekeeping Day (20 May) was introduced by the United Nations in 2017 to raise awareness of the importance of honeybees for the ecosystem and to demonstrate the dangers to their declining population worldwide. Through various actions aimed at raising the awareness of the world, APIVITA is also trying to inform this year about the bee and the need to protect it.

1/3 of the food produced worldwide today is associated with pollination by bees, and if bees are destroyed, 71 of the world’s 100 most important crops pollinated by bees will begin to disappear. In particular, fruits such as apples, strawberries, almonds, broccoli, asparagus, melons will show a sharp fall.

This wonderful Bee Society is one of APIVITA’s inspirational sources and is even in its name, which comes from the Latin words APIS (Bee) and VITA (Life), meaning “Bee’s Life”, but also in its logo inspired by the “Bees of Malia”, the only Minoan Medium of Bronze Age that reflects fertility and harmony.

On Sunday 19th and Monday 20 May at Athens International Airport “El. Venizelos” you will travel to the world of bees through actions and surprises. At the same time, get ready for the most challenging Facebook Contest ever!
