In Crete we have the good carob. It helps us a lot to expand abroad dynamically

Basically since 2005, while living in Canada for many years, I returned to my hometown in Argyroupoli, Rethymnon, where there are millions of carob trees throughout the area. I have known the quality and the nutritional and healing properties of carob, and I started in 2005.

Neither the know-how nor the machinery existed, and I basically started in the market in 2010, when I began to produce the first products.

Our products are the substitute for carob honey. The carob flour, the cocoa substitute and the carob powder, the coffee substitute. We make bakeries, spreads, jams, pasta, chocolates, bars, 62 food products and we have products in cosmetics, in essential oils, and now we are in pharmaceutical industry as well. We have also entered into a part of the pharmaceutical industry that cures related diseases in a natural way.

Quality is very important, packaging is important as well and in Crete we have the good quality carob, which helps us a lot to expand abroad dynamically. That is why we export to 57 countries and to very difficult ones, such as Korea, Japan, China and Central Europe. Countries where importing a product is difficult.

Also, with our exports at the moment, we have enriched more the foreign exchange we brought to Greece, due to large exports, around 80%.

And we have created about 600 new job positions both in Crete and Athens, in bakery and pastry industries.

Certainly, the machinery has been an issue from the past to the present. We try to create a vast know-how on the product.

My name is Elias Manousakas, I am the owner of Creta Carob.
