European excellence for the Athens University of Economics and Business
In the 17th European Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition “JA Europe Enterprise Challenge 2020”, the team Dr. IV and the members Vougias Ioannis, Georgouli Christianna and Faros Antonis, students of the Department of Management Science and Technology (CT) of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).
For the first time in Greece, on June 26, the final of the competition was hosted by the non-profit organization “Youth Entrepreneurship Association/Junior Achievement Greece (SEN/JA Greece)”, under the auspices of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou. Thousands of students from hundreds of Universities representing 20 European countries are participating in the European competition.
The Avanade Digital Innovation Signature Award was won by the digital idea Dr. IV. It is an intelligent, flexible and automatic serum management system in health units, using Internet of Things technology and Mobile application. The idea was developed in the course “Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, and the students had the support of Professor Georgios Doukidis, Dr. Stavros Lounis and the doctoral candidate Stratos Baloutsos. The team was praised for its digital idea and its ability to leverage the service that offers the most creative use of digital innovations such as mobility, collaboration tools, cloud technology, machine learning, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain. Students Christianna Georgouli and Antonis Faro were also awarded the JA Alumni Europe Leadership Award, in recognition of their outstanding leadership skills.
It is worth noting that “JA Start Up” is a European pioneering training program for innovation and entrepreneurship of Junior Achievement Europe that is implemented simultaneously in 300 Universities across Europe with the participation of 15,000 students. The Greek team represented our country competing in the final with 18 student teams from European countries. Cyprus won the grand prize this year.
