Doussis-Anagnostopoulou had the idea of founding the Athens-based Mission «ANTHROPOS» after a trip to Ethiopia, in 2008. Between 2010 and 2012 there have been three missions to Africa, where volunteer doctors and medical professionals performed more than 140 operations, offering also training, consultation, medical equipment and additional humanitarian assistance.
The Greek crisis made the organisation take action within the borders of the country as well, with two programs. «Emvolia-zoume: children without insurance, not without protection» has offered vaccination to more than 2,500 children, which are being monitored by the organisation until they take all the vaccinations required by the National Vaccination Program. «Stiri-zoume: Medical and Pharmaceutical care for all» has fulfilled more than 100 requests by uninsured or financially weak persons, for various helth related issues.
Collaborating with other NGOs, state institutions and private initiatives, Mission «ANTHROPOS» will remain active in Greece for as long as there is such need, and then focus exclusively on developing countries, as was the case in the beginning.
