Responding to the serious and unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation announced the International Action Initiative for COVID-19, totaling $100 million, to address its consequences.

Donations from the COVID-19 International Action Initiative focus on research, food and basic necessities, education, psychological support for people affected by the pandemic, financial support for artists, and nurses, doctors and cleaning staff at the forefront of the pandemic. Donations will be made available to existing and new donors, cooperative funds and directly to the healthcare staff working in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) of the COVID-19 reference hospitals.

The SNF will help providing nutrition, psychological support, basic necessities, educational support and immediate support to people living in France, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

Greece has an important place in the heart and work of the Foundation, as it is the place of birth. As the country still struggles to recover from a deep ten-year socio-economic crisis, the ISS is particularly focused on addressing the country’s immediate needs and challenges in cooperation with the public sector.
