Alexandrakis Farm is located at the foot of Psiloritis, in Monastiraki Amari N. Rethymno and was established in 1999. From the beginning, the farm only uses locally produced, natural feed in accordance with European nutrition standards. Today, all farm products have been awarded Gold and Silver Quality Awards, from the 2nd and 3rd Organic Evaluation of Greek Meat Products, conducted during the MEAT DAYS exhibitions.
Yes, definitely promoting Greek products in Greek hotels can help in their demand abroad
My father Pavlos Alexandrakis decided to set up the company in 1999, because he saw there was a market gap in the production of rabbits’ meat. They all had a few rabbits in their homes but no one had an organized rabbits’ meat production unit.
In 2013, we started the production of Cretan rooster’s meat. Over the years, in 2015, started the production of rabbit sausage and rooster sausage.
In order to be competitive, in terms of price, usually overseas productions are larger so they are more competitive in price.
In any case, since we cannot compete as Greek producers the price that some products may have abroad, how economical they might be, we must focus on what particulars we will give them, whatever those may be. Whether it is the taste or the local elements, we have to give them this edge, something different.
We support our export activity by participating in exhibitions, mainly in Greece, with visitors from other countries and that way the world gets to know us little by little. Another way is on Facebook to do some posts in English and launch some ads in foreign countries, to focus on foreign countries. This is something we could not have done in the past, and in recent years it has helped us with the Internet.
