On Sunday 12th of May 2019, more than 1700 students, members of the teaching – research and administrative staff of the Athens University of Economics (AUE), citizens and professionals of the area and running teams, with Special Olympics Hellas’ mission to stand out, they rejoiced “All together for Pedion Areos”, in the 2nd OPA Run.

The Race, which was also co-organized this year by the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Attica Region, is part of the Volunteer Program of (AUE) and constitutes the most massive social action.

The message of AUE Run, as Emmanouil Giakoumakis the dean of AUE stated, is: “To make Pedion Areos again a lung of life and a pole of attraction for the members of the University community and for the inhabitants of the city of Athens”. Almost 150 volunteers, mostly students of the Athens University of Economics were the driving force of the event. Georgia Delogianni, a graduate student of the Department of Statistics of AUE, volunteer at AUE Run 2019, said: “Through my participation in the AUE Run organization I have seen the value of volunteering and social offerings.”

Part of the Revenue will be allocated to the DIAVASI program of the Center for the Treatment of Dependent Individuals (KETHEA) for the production of a video spot on the equal integration of former users into the labor market.
