On Sunday 12 May 2019 the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Region of Attica co-organize for the second consecutive year in Pedion Areos the OPA Run, a 5 km race and a 2 km walk.

OPA Run is part of the Social Contribution Strategy of the Athens University of Economics and Business as an Action of the Volunteer Program “AUEB Volunteers” and is supported by the Culture and Youth Organization of the City of Athens and the Hellenic Gymnastics Association, under the auspices of the City of Athens.

On the occasion of the 2nd OPA Run, Professor Emmanouil Giakoumakis, said: “The Park of Pedion Areos is an alive pole of attraction for the members of the University community and for the residents of the city of Athens. Events such as the OPA Run contribute significantly in an effort to revive the link between the park and society and citizens, and it is our pleasure that, for the second year, our volunteer students contribute to the building this renaissance with this initiative.”

This year, part of the proceeds will be disbursed to KETHEA DIAVASI, the largest network of drug rehabilitation and social reintegration services in Greece, aiming at the digital production of a video presentation of its identity. In addition, a significant number of tickets will be available free of charge to vulnerable social groups.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, the Treasure Hunt of the Run 2019 will be held in order to meet the Pedion Areos and the wider region, and on Saturday, May 11, 2019, the Pasta Party will be held for all runners in the OPA students’ restaurant.
