The People’s Trust is a non-profit organization, created in 2016 on the initiative of the A. C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation, which is also its founding and main sponsor. Its goal is to reduce unemployment by boost entrepreneurship.

Specifically, The People’s Trust offers financial support of up to 10,000 euros and consulting support, networking and mentoring to small and micro-enterprises, existing and under establishment. It is addressed to all sectors, emphasizing companies that leave a positive or neutral environmental footprint. Anyone can apply for funding, but what matters is their business plan, the viability prospects of their project and whether it can create even one new job position in the business. If these criteria are met, the way in which the funding is utilized, as well as the financial situation of the applicant, also play a key role.

Since September 2016, it has disbursed 2.2 million euros, supported more than 270 companies and created more than 600 new jobs. An important statistic is the fairly high percentage of business viability it has supported, which amounts to 91.2%.

Dimitris Kouletsis, Head of Operations of the non-profit organization, states: “I believe that there is no specific branch that stands out. Before the pandemic we would talk about tourism, while the quarantine brought e-commerce to the center of attention. But what we have found is that the companies that stand out, regardless of the industry, are the ones that have to offer something more, something special, whether it concerns the product, or even the entrepreneurs, the way they serve their customers and the love for their work. “
